A major dilemma I have with a lot of people in this generation is their concept of settling for settling. In other words, they're not concerned with bettering themselves. Whatever their situation, they've learned to accept anything and everything. Many people are afraid to succeed because they're afraid of hardwork, commitment, and responsibility. Anyone who plans to succeed in life should seek positive stimulation and positive reinforcement. Without stimulating your mind, you'll remain stuck on stupid and never get anywhere. How you think and what you think will determine how far you'll go.
This whole concept of mental stimulation was brought up in a conversation I had with an acquaintance of mine who asked me about my goals and aspirations. During our conversation, one of the things I mentioned was that I strive for mental stimulation because the mind is a terrible thing to waste. Rather than applaud my statement, the reply from my acquaintance was, "I don't need to think that much. In fact, I rather chill instead of getting my mind stimulated." Comments such as this causes me great concern about the welfare of people. Let me ask you this - do you know people like this? Do you know people who can't hold an intelligent conversation because they don't know anything about anything? You're going places and they're stuck in the same position.
In this spiritual journey, we can learn a few things from seeking mental stimulation. The first lesson learned is when your mind is stimulated; you'll demand more of yourself because you know who you are and whose you are. God created you for greatness - not laziness. Your mind is the catalyst for you to reach for what belongs to you. The second lesson learned is when your mind is stimulated; you'll grow in wisdom and understanding. A mind that is active will seek answers to life's complicated questions. In a real sense, a stimulated mind will critique what's wrong with the social ills of society. A stimulated mind will look for solutions instead of dwelling on the problems. A stimulated mind has power.
In the book of Proverbs, the writer pens these powerful words, "Intelligent people want to learn, but stupid people are satisfied with ignorance." Please don't miss this. You may not know everything, but if you refuse to expand your mind, life will pass you by. The last lesson learned is that mental stimulation will give you the motivation and inspiration to do the impossible. I'm confident that whatever you put your mind to, you can accomplish. Your mind is too valuable for you not to use. Remember, what you put in your mind is what you'll get out of it.
